Domaine Sylvain Loichet, Puligny Montrachet, Burgundy, France 2010
Domaine Sylvain Loichet is located in the heart of Burgundy in Chorey-les-Beaune. Since the takeover in 2005, many changes were made, while the vineyard is now in organic farming to meet the land, the ecosystem and of course the health of the consumer. From the beginning the hope was to reveal the Burgundian vineyards and have a large range of wines for a pleasant change. They use the best grapes possible, in order to limit the work of wine making and to get the pure reflection of appellations.
The parcel is located on the village of Puligny-Montrachet in the direction of Chassagne-Montrachet. The vines are 55-60 years and on clay soils and deeply rooted. After a manual harvest maturity, the grapes are gently pressed with a pneumatic press. The juice is then decanted overnight and sung in barrels made of 30% new barrels. They start their fermentation by indigenous yeast and bacteria. After 14 months before bottling, the wines undergo debulking of membrane filtration. They are then bottled by gravity.
Beautiful purity, great aromatic intensity and minerality, lightly toasted hazelnuts, with hints of lemon. It is well-structured and pure, with a really long tense final, elegant, and a good aging potential. Preservation of 8 to 10 years (under the right conditions of temperature and humidity).
