Domaine Galevan, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Rhone, France 2009

Female winemaker Coralie Goumarre, is the 9th generation of wine growers at the Domaine Galevan. In the vineyard, the average age of the vines is 55 years, which gives the wine a beautiful & natural concentration.

This inky/purple-tinged 2009 Chateauneuf du Pape is a blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Mourvedre, aged in old oak barrels. A hint of toasty oak is noticeable in the aromatics, which are dominated by black currant and black cherry fruit intertwined with notes of licorice, underbrush, and pepper. Spicy, dense, and full-bodied, with superb purity, light to moderate tannin, and a long finish.
